Job description

A vacancy for a Thermal and CFD Simulation Engineer (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Taufkirchen or Ottobrunn.

This position is limited for a time period of 2 years.

Hybrid and Electric Propulsion systems represent some of the biggest industrial challenges of our time. Within the X-Labs organization, we are targeting advanced technological breakthroughs that could be key enablers of our long-term goal to ‘electrify the skies’.

Through electrification and hybridization, we are driving a step change in air vehicle performance. Enabled by the high efficiency of electric propulsion chains and by allowing us to significantly rethink air vehicle design. These advances are opening up the design space and enabling us to look at new concepts and new markets previously impossible to envisage.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Build up thermal simulation models for liquid/air cooled systems (Tools: Matlab, Amesim)
  • Design of liquid/cryo pumps (Tool: CFTurbo)
  • Performing CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations (pumps, blowers, air cooling channels, HEX)
  • Definition of cooling system architectures

 

 

Profile description

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering or similar discipline
  • Deep knowledge of thermal system simulation
  • Knowledge on computational fluid dynamic simulation
  • Knowledge of sizing thermal management system components (heat exchangers, pumps, tanks)
  • General knowledge of electrical and propulsion systems is beneficial
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is a must
  • English fluent
  • Spanish is a plus
